Blaine’s Bulletin – Fourth of July
Washington,
July 5, 2024
Just yesterday, we celebrated the 248th anniversary of the independence of our great nation. There is nothing more beautiful and more patriotic than being surrounded by family and friends, grilling, and seeing the American flag flown high in the sky. One of my favorite parts of this cherished holiday is watching fireworks as my grandkids run around the yard with sparklers in hand—a simple, yet profound moment that I look forward to each year. Missouri is arguably one of the best places to spend the fourth, we surely don’t cut corners when it comes to celebrating. From the annual Salute to Freedom in Jefferson City to 5Ks, car shows, and spectacular fireworks displays, our communities come together to honor our nation's birthday with unparalleled enthusiasm. While celebrating the birth of one of the greatest countries on Earth is incredibly important, we must never forget the immense sacrifices that have brought our country to where it is today. If it were not for the brave patriots who dreamt of freedom 248 years ago, our lives would look extremely different today. Their vision and bravery laid the foundation for the liberties we cherish. Today, we are fortunate to have thousands of brave Americans who continue to defend the spirit of freedom that has remained at the forefront of our nation for nearly two and a half centuries. Since the birth of our country, many heroes have paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. Their valor and dedication ensure that the dream of our founding fathers endures. As we gather to celebrate with parades, barbecues, and fireworks, let us remember the true meaning of this day – a celebration of our freedom, our democracy, and the enduring spirit of the American people. Happy Fourth of July to all, and may God bless the United States of America!
