Rep. Luetkemeyer on the SCOTUS CFPB Funding Decision

Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) released the following statement after the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) released its decision in Consumer Financial Protection Bureau et al. v. Community Financial Services Association of America, Ltd., et al.

Today’s Supreme Court decision affirming the funding structure of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is upsetting but underscores the urgent need for Congress to enhance oversight and accountability over the Bureau. Under the leadership of Director Chopra, the CFPB has consistently overstepped its statutory authority, pushing partisan priorities that stray far from its original mission harming businesses and consumers alikesaid Congressman Luetkemeyer.”

“This ruling does not end my commitment to rein in an agency which continuously ignores the legislative intent of laws written by Congress. The negative impact of the CFPB’s continuous overreach is undeniable and unacceptable. I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass legislation to reel in this rogue agency, ensuring it serves the genuine interests of the public.”
