WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) and the House Financial Services Committee held a hearing to conduct oversight of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Congressman Luetkemeyer questioned SEC Chair Gary Gensler about Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), as well as the recent bank failures and prevention of future profit-seeking bank runs from bad actors. Click HERE to watch. Rep. Luetkemeyer: With regard to the banking crisis that we had recently, I think it’s an instructive moment from the standpoint of things that we maybe weren’t thinking about before…. It would seem to me that if we have a situation where we have a lot of banks that are not very liquid right now, that there are some concerns about - that somebody could play some funny games with not just the banking industry but our economy as a whole. It could be somebody trying to make money, it could be a foreign actor who wants to do something different to our economy. |
