Luetkemeyer to Serve on Select Committee on China

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) released the following statement regarding his appointment from House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party. Congressman Luetkemeyer is also the Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, Illicit Finance, and International Financial Institutions on the House Financial Services Committee.

“The CCP has a stated goal of overtaking the United States as the world’s superpower, and it has proven willing to do anything – from IP theft to forced child labor – to achieve that goal. It is an honor to be selected by Speaker McCarthy and Republican Conference to combat that threat. As a member of the Select Committee, along with my position as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, Illicit Finance, and International Financial Institutions, my focus will be on the weaponization of China’s economy and its influence on ours. We can no longer allow the CCP and its enablers to play by a different set of rules than America and the rest of the world,” said Luetkemeyer.
