Luetkemeyer Statement on Saule Omarova Nomination Withdrawal

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) Ranking Member on the Consumer Protection & Financial Institutions Subcommittee, released a statement regarding the announcement that Cornell Law Professor Saule Omarova’s nomination for Comptroller of the Currency will be withdrawn.

“Professor Omarova’s radical beliefs showed that if confirmed, she had the potential to devastate the American economy. While she was only one of many exceedingly alarming nominees, I’m hopeful her withdrawal is an indicator of a shift toward common sense in Washington,” said Luetkemeyer.

Background: On October 20, 2021, Congressman Luetkemeyer’s op-ed, “Biden and his radical regulators want government to control our financial system” was published on FoxBusiness.com.
