WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03), Ranking Member on the Consumer Protection & Financial Institutions Subcommittee released the following statement regarding one of President Joe Biden’s most radical nominees, Cornell Law Professor Saule Omarova, to be Comptroller of the Currency. "It is ironic that on the same day voters in Virginia, Minneapolis, Buffalo, and towns across the country resoundingly rejected the Administration’s radical agenda, President Biden made his most radical nomination yet. By nominating Saule Omarova, the President is attempting to regulate the nation’s financial institutions with a socialist who yearns for the days of Soviet rule and seeks to, as she says, ‘end banking as we know it,’” said Luetkemeyer. “Professor Omarova’s nomination is one of the most concerning I have encountered in my time in Congress. The Administration’s insistence on a government takeover of financial services is explicitly un-American and, if successful, will have disastrous, long-lasting effects on our economy and the financial stability of every American family.” Background: On October 20, 2021, Congressman Luetkemeyer’s op-ed, “Biden and his radical regulators want government to control our financial system” was published on FoxBusiness.com. |
