WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) reintroduced the Mobile Mammography Promotion Act. The bill would exempt “mammovans” or mobile mammography vehicles from the motor fuel excise tax to allow for increased access to this potentially life-saving service. “Every October – National Breast Cancer Awareness Month – our country comes together to spread awareness about the significance of screening and early detection, offer support for survivors and those courageously battling the disease, and remember the Americans we have lost to breast cancer,” said Congressman Luetkemeyer. “This legislation will help provide more screenings to women in underserved and rural areas who might not otherwise have access to mammograms. Mammograms save lives, and the Mobile Mammography Promotion Act will help bring this critical service to more women in Missouri and across the country.” Full bill text can be found HERE. |
