WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) released the following statement regarding the Biden Administration’s reckless decision to hastily withdraw from Afghanistan.

“In a matter of days, Afghanistan has gone from a troubled nation struggling to improve - where women are finally enjoying some human rights and girls are starting to attend school - to a land where people are dangling from planes in their desperation to get out. President Biden’s incompetence has put innocent Afghan families, allies who risked their lives to help our military, and Americans who are still in the country in grave danger,” said Congressman Luetkemeyer.

“After making great progress in Afghanistan and taking many steps forward, this unbelievably irresponsible exit from this dangerous part of the world has given terrorists and extremist groups the opportunity to regain power, putting the entire world at risk. As the 20th anniversary of September 11th nears, this could not come at a more disappointing time. My prayers are with the Americans and our allies still in the country, and I will do all I can to help them get home safely.”
