In a major bipartisan vote, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) supported legislation that advances the discovery, development and delivery of treatments and cures in the biomedical field. “There are 10,000 known diseases in the world yet we only have cures and treatments for 500 of them,” Luetkemeyer said. “This bill streamlines the review of life-saving drugs, provides money to continue to research cures for diseases, and provides grants for states to supplement opioid abuse prevention and treatment. The 21st Century Cures Act is a true life-saving bill and I look forward to hearing about progress from our medical professionals in Missouri and across the country as they get to work finding and developing new cures and treatments.” Also included in this bill is the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Reform Act. This legislation, which Luetkemeyer is a cosponsor of, helps individuals and their families in mental health crisis and addresses needs of Americans with a substance abuse disorder. |
