Luetkemeyer Applauds Efforts, Encourages Further Action to Root Out Abuses
Washington,
November 21, 2018
Last month, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03), Chairman of the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee, sent letters to Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) Chairman Jelena McWilliams and Comptroller of the Currency Joseph Otting, calling on them to investigate and take action against those who have abused power at the agencies. Chairman Luetkemeyer released the following statement after receiving responses from both Chair McWilliams and Comptroller Otting: “Since Chair McWilliams and Comptroller Otting took over their respective agencies, I have enjoyed open and honest communication with both of them. They understand the important missions of the agencies and have shown a commitment to working alongside Congress to do what is best for Americans across the nation,” said Chairman Luetkemeyer. “I have lead the charge against Operation Choke Point for the last five years, and I’m happy see the regulators’ willingness to ensure regulation is never again borne of personal biases or political motivations. I thank Chair McWilliams and Comptroller Otting for their swift responses. I hope we can continue working together to root out abuses in the financial services sector and restore the integrity of their agencies.” Response from McWilliams to Luetkemeyer |
