WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03), issue the following statement after President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address:

“Every day I talk to people throughout Missouri who share the same priorities: job opportunities and keeping our loved ones safe.  Tonight, just as he has throughout his presidency, President Trump continued focusing on these core values.  Building on the success of tax reform that has seen pay raises, better benefits, more opportunity, and massive investments in communities across the U.S., the President laid out his vision for more economic growth through smarter regulation and a bold infrastructure proposal.  Families in Missouri certainly welcome more job growth and much-needed improvements to our infrastructure system, including our roads, bridges, rivers, ports, and expanded broadband in rural areas.

It was also very encouraging to hear the President continue his support for our military, homeland security personnel, and law enforcement. He understands there is nothing more important to us than keeping our families and loved ones safe. Our powerful military, a strengthened border, and the law enforcement officers who patrol our streets everyday are the keys to making that happen.  Like the President I am dedicated to protecting the homeland from threats abroad and here at home.

The state of our union is strong and the future is bright. By working together, the President and Congress can put in place policies that will create even more opportunities for communities across Missouri and America. I look forward to doing just that in 2018.”
