Blaine's Bulletin: Looking Ahead to the Upcoming Months

2018 is officially here. I am excited to carry over the momentum from last year and get even more things accomplished as we head into the second session of the 115th Congress in the House of Representatives.

2018 is officially here. I am excited to carry over the momentum from last year and get even more things accomplished as we head into the second session of the 115th Congress in the House of Representatives.

I held several hearings last year as the Chairman of the Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit Subcommittee, on data security, and it is one topic I look forward to continuing working on this year. Cybersecurity attacks are becoming more advanced in their methods by the day. We must ensure an adequate framework for consumer data protection is in place so companies trusted with sensitive information have the tools to protect it. In the coming months, I will be working with my colleagues to produce legislation that ensures consumers’ data is adequately protected. I look forward to updating you more on my efforts as we move forward.

The House of Representatives will continue focusing its efforts on repealing Obamacare, strengthening our nation’s roads and highways, and rolling back regulations from the previous administration. My colleagues and I in the House are always in discussions regarding what challenge to tackle next and as the weeks unfold I will keep you updated as progress continues.

In addition, I am asking all Missourians in the 3rd District to participate in my third year of the Valentines for Veterans program. Last year my offices received over 13,000 cards from the 3rd District and I am excited to see what this year will bring. I hope everyone finds a moment to create a valentine that will be sent to the men and women who bravely fought for our nation. For more information about the program and where to send them please visit my website or call my Jefferson City office. A member of my staff will be happy to assist you.

Lastly, in just a couple of weeks, thousands of Missourians will make their way to Washington to participate in the 45th March for Life that is held each January. I look forward to visiting with everyone who comes from the 3rd District as we stand together to protect the unborn. For everyone who does travel to Washington, I wish you safe travels!
