Today, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) voted in support of H.R. 3441, the Save Local Business Act, which was passed in the House of Representatives.

This legislation would reaffirm that two or more employers must have “actual, direct, and immediate” control over employees to be considered joint employers under the National Labor Relations Act and Fair Labor Standards Act.

“This bill would overturn a ruling made by unelected bureaucrats at the National Labor Relations Board under the Obama administration that would drastically broaden what constitutes a joint employer,” Luetkemeyer said. “Codifying the previous, longheld joint employer standard into law will provide the needed long-term certainty for small businesses to operate without fear of future bureaucrats again upending decades of labor law with vague and unworkable policies.”

According to the American Action Forum, the Obama-era joint employer standard could result in 1.7 million fewer jobs.
