I have been extremely honored for the last three and a half years of serving you in Congress, and I will continue to serve as the voice of common sense, conservative values on behalf of the hard-working families like yours in the 9th District that have repeatedly shown their confidence in me.

As many of you know, the current 9th District includes all or part of the following counties: Adair, Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Camden, Clark, Crawford, Franklin, Gasconade, Knox, Lewis, Macon, Maries, Marion, Miller, Monroe, Montgomery, Osage, Pike, Ralls, Randolph, Scotland, Shelby, St. Charles and Warren. However, due to the most recent U.S. Census, that is about to change.

Due to population losses, Missouri is going from nine congressional districts to eight. The Missouri Legislature last year successfully passed new congressional maps that created new boundaries for the remaining eight districts. These new boundaries survived the governor’s veto and various legal challenges before various courts including the Missouri Supreme Court.

Under the boundaries that are now state law and were recently upheld by the Missouri Supreme Court, the old 9th District now morphs into the new 3rd District, with significant changes to comply and required to meet population balance among the state’s remaining eight congressional districts. The new 3rd District contains much of the southern half of the existing 9th District, including my home in Miller County, as well as all or part of Camden, Osage, Gasconade, Maries, Callaway, Montgomery, Franklin, Warren, St. Charles counties; new counties include all or part of Cole, Lincoln and Jefferson counties.

Generally, the communities north of Interstate 70 in the current 9th District will now become part of the new 6th Congressional District although a couple of counties, Boone and Randolph and part of Audrain, will shift to the 4th District. Crawford County, which is currently in the 9th District, will become part of 8th Congressional District.

But make no mistake. While these changes are part of a new reality required by the decennial Census, I can assure you that my service to the people in the 25-counties of the 9th District will continue unchanged. My staff and I will continue to provide the 9th District with the same level of service and commitment you have required of me since I took office in 2009.

I remain humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve the people of the 9th District and my commitment to them remains unbroken. I also want to assure 9th District families that our staff will continue their exceptional service to those needing assistance from our office. As always, my focus will remain on tackling the critical issues facing the 9th District, the State of Missouri and the United States as we work together to secure a brighter future for our children and grandchildren.
