Luetkemeyer Statement on Democrats’ Socialist Spending Spree

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) released the following statement regarding House passage of Democrats’ massive tax-and-spree.

“The same week 70% of Americans have described the state of the economy as ‘poor’ or ‘not so good’ and inflation sits at a 31-year high, Democrats have jammed through their enormous socialist spending bill that will only exacerbate the problem. After months of false claims from Democrats that this bill is ‘paid for,’ the Congressional Budget Office estimates it will cost U.S. taxpayers an additional $367 billon,” said Congressman Luetkemeyer.

“On top of adding hundreds of billions of dollars to our national debt, the bill also hits Americans with over $1 trillion in tax hikes, with the exception of the wealthiest individuals who predominantly live in blue states. Those people – the richest of the rich – are receiving a $285 billion tax cut.

“These are the priorities of this President and Democrats in Congress: more government control and regulations paid for by the middle class, while wealthy liberal donors in California and New York get a tax break.”

Harmful provisions include:

  • 20-30 percent tax increase on middle class Americans.
  • $285 billion tax cut for wealthy individuals in high tax states.
  • $80 billion to shutdown American energy to advance their radical climate agenda and a Natural Gas Tax that would raise American families’ bills by up to 30 percent a year.
  • Electric vehicle subsidies for households making $500,000 a year and big businesses to establish their own fleets of electric vehicles.
  • Tax breaks for Ivy League Schools and Universities, including $7.8 billion in an “environmental justice tax credit” for schools that support climate change studies.
  • Expands our nation’s already oversized bureaucracy by establishing than 150 new government programs, including $450 million to train people for “climate change” careers and $25 million to create and fund President Biden’s “environmental justice initiative.”
  • $100 billion for backdoor amnesty to allow millions of illegal immigrants to obtain 5-year renewable visas.
  • $400 billion to establish a government-controlled pre-K and childcare education program.
  • $2.5 billion for “tree equity.”
