After the announcement in May that Heather Mote of Iberia was named the 2017 Congressional Art Competition, she has now traveled to Washington to see her artwork hang in the United States Capitol.

“It was a pleasure to host Heather today as she had the opportunity to come to Washington and see her artwork hang with all of the winners across the country,” Luetkemeyer said. “These students are incredibly talented and creative. This program serves as an opportunity to allow high school students to visit our nation’s capital and be recognized for their achievements. I truly enjoyed meeting Heather and talking with her and I wish her all of the best in the future.”

Mote, a freshman at Iberia High School, created the winning artwork titled “Courageous.”
