Luetkemeyer Votes to Ban Federal Funding for Abortion Services

In an effort to prevent the president’s health-care law from impacting the unborn, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-3) voted in favor of legislation that would ban federal funds from being used for abortion procedures except in cases of rape, incest or when the life of the mother is in danger.

The No Taxpayers Funding for Abortion Act, which Luetkemeyer co-sponsored, passed in the House and is headed to the Senate for consideration. The bill also prevents abortion services from being considered as a tax deductible medical expense, and it would disqualify health plans that offer coverage of abortion services from premium subsidies under the Affordable Care Act.

“I am passionate about the protection of unborn children and have co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation that seek to protect the rights of the unborn and I believe this bill is critical to protecting our most vulnerable,” Luetkemeyer said. “As a father, grandfather and elected official, I have consistently fought for the rights of the unborn because I firmly believe all life is a gift and deserves to be treated with the highest level of dignity and respect."
