As part of his ongoing efforts to serve our veterans, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-3) has supported a series of bills including a measure empowering a task force to examine the growing backlog of disability claims waiting to be processed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

“It is troubling that the men and women who serve our country are facing a bureaucratic backlog that is denying them access to the benefits they deserve, and that is why we must restore accountability and efficiency into the process,” Luetkemeyer said. “With Veterans Day right around the corner, there is no better time than now for Congress to pass these important, bipartisan bills for our nation’s heroes.

The House passed a total of four veterans related bills this week. The three other pieces of legislation are: H.R. 2481, which would establish a Veterans Economic Opportunity Administration within the VA and would enable the department to focus on veterans transition to civilian life; H.R. 1405, which would require the VA Secretary to provide an appeals form along with any benefits denial notification; and H.R. 2011, which would extend the term of a special veteran students advisory committee for two years.
