U.S. Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer 3rd District of Missouri

As part of his ongoing efforts to keep constituents up to date on important issues, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) is reminding Medicare recipients that the program’s open enrollment period begins Monday, October 15 and ends Friday, December 7.

The open enrollment period is when all people with Medicare can change their Medicare health plan and prescription drug coverage for 2013. Information on 2013 plans will be available beginning his month. People with Medicare can call 1-800-MEDICARE or visit www.medicare.gov for plan information. If a person is satisfied that their current plan will meet their needs for next year, they don’t need to do anything.

“Many elderly Missourians depend on Medicare and it is critical that their coverage meets their needs and that’s why meeting the open enrollment deadlines are so important,” Luetkemeyer said. “It is my hope that folks are able to take advantage of this information or share it with folks that may need it.”
