As part of his commitment to America’s National Churchill Museum, U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) on Friday, February 10, will participate in a public ceremony marking the first ever Smithsonian Institution exhibition at the museum on the campus of Westminster College in Fulton. The event begins at 4:30 p.m.

“The Way We Work” exhibit shares the stories of how work became a central element in American culture and the many changes affecting the workforce and the work environment over the past 100 years.  The exhibit contains a local section, The Kingdom at Work, which was led by the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society and focuses on the history of work in Callaway County and the surrounding area.

“Hard work is what built our great nation. I am extremely proud that the National Churchill Museum has been chosen as a site for this wonderful exhibition,” said Luetkemeyer, who in 2009 secured passage of a resolution through the U.S. House of Representatives recognizing the Winston Churchill Memorial and Library as America’s National Churchill Museum. “This will be a wonderful opportunity for the public to get a unique look at the historical importance of those who toiled to help our country, and our state, prosper over the decades.”

Fulton is one of the cities in Missouri to receive this exhibit, which is visiting four additional cities in the state throughout 2011 and 2012. Missouri is the first state where the exhibit has been displayed.
